It's Time to Celebrate the Newest Newman! Signing off, November 12

Jenny is doing absolutely wonderful with her pregnancy.  She's getting big, but staying in shape.  She looks the same as she always has from the back.  Then when she turns, it's kind of a surprise to see her big baby belly.  She's such a cute Pregger!  She's going to all sorts of parenting and childbirth classes sponsored by PinnacleHealth.  And Steven is TOTALLY into being a daddy.  I never thought I'd see him like this.

He's SO into it that he's putting together a website to celebrate the newest Newman.  That works out perfect for me!  It's been a year and a half since I started this site.  It was in honor of my parents' 50th wedding anniversary...to bring the family together with photos and stories.  To celebrate our lives.  But now it's time for me to train for the big Appalachian Trail hike I've always promised myself I'd do someday.  "Someday" is coming up fast, and now that my back is healthy, I need to stop talking about it and start doing it.  That includes healthy eating (which means time in the kitchen), regular workouts at the gym, serious hikes several times a week, and a lot of planning.  Doesn't leave much time to sit in front of my computer writing blogs and updates about the family.  So I'm officially handing the baton off to Jenny. I know she'll have plenty to write about once the twins are born ... that is if she has time to write!

Well, Mom & Dad, I hope you enjoyed this and had a wonderful 50th this year.  (We've already started planning your 60th-Greg has a GREAT idea-and this time it'll be a total surprise!)  On behalf of the rest of the kids, you've been wonderful parents and we love you very much!

I hope you enjoyed our Family Web Site and gained some valuable health information through all our family stories.  -- Beth

Newman News

There is always some type of drama going on with the Newmans. In this section I will post the latest saga in our family. View the latest video diary and read more below.

Jenny's Ultrasound
When my sister-in-law Jenny discovered she was pregnant, she was almost afraid to tell her husband Steven.  They both want a family, but they had worked out a life plan where children were part of the future, not the present.  She didn't need to worry, though.  My brother is a sweet guy and he was totally pleased with the news.

They went to PinnacleHealth Imaging, West Hanover for their first ultrasound and they had quite a surprise!  They discovered that parenthood is going to be twice as challenging-and fun-as they thought it would be.

If you can't figure it out for yourself, watch the video.  And even if you have figured it out, watch it anyway... Steven's reaction to the ultrasound images is priceless.

ABOUT THE NEWMANS

Life hasn't always been a bed of roses growing up as a Newman ... with big expectations and even bigger egos. But with our parents' fiftieth anniversary coming up, it's time for us to celebrate who we really are. Welcome to the Newman Family website.

I guess compared to some other families we had it pretty good. Greg, Steven and I played in the back of our father's diner when we were kids, stealing French fries every chance we got and learning early on that it wasn't okay to eat the partially eaten pie the waitress cleared from tables. Boy, did we ever get in trouble when Dad caught us doing that!

Now we're all grown up. Hopefully Mom and Dad are proud of all. They'd better be...they pushed us all hard enough to get us where we are now. Greg took over the diner when Dad retired and has two kids of his own--Matt's a senior in high school and Katie's a freshman in college. Steven's married and a very successful lawyer. Me, I took a liking to the cash register at the diner and ended up a bank VP. Let's see...we went from eating garbage as kids to being upstanding citizens. I'd say we did pretty well !
